Laura Quattrocchi, Artist Statement

I am committed to pushing and expand the boundaries of dance by working with visual artists in public and private environments and to changing the prospective of how we look and think about dance and familiar environments. In the same way I think about the costumes. Using plastic bubble wrapping, shower curtains, hair curlers etc, brings a new focus to what is our everyday environments. Plastic. Disposable. Instant. Made in China. One size fits all. Public works, especially, give more opportunities to expose these ideas not only to elites. It’s free and it’s available to a broader and diverse gender of public. Bringing out reality in a world like we live today is my primary intention and I try to do that through movements and costumes.
